This UNV assignment is to provide programmatic support at the field level to the UNICEF Turkey’s Multisectoral partnerships, focusing on assessing the protection needs of Syrian refugees and host community as well as facilitating the implementation of quality and timely Early Childhood Development, Emergency Response and AAP/Safeguarding at the respective assigned provinces. |
Task description: Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Emergency Officer or his/her designated mandated representative(s), Program Associate will undertake the following tasks:
➢ Support to programme development, planning and execution: • Compile data and information on the UNICEF supported Programme activities in the respective assigned province(s) to facilitate preparation of reports, working papers, and presentations. • Support the implementation of communication plans for partnership activities as needed. Assist the development of appropriate communication and information products related to programmes. • Contribute to the preparation of reports, programme documents and submissions by providing information, preparing tables and other documents. • When required, participate in relevant inter-agency meetings, and share meeting highlights with the office.
➢ Support to monitoring and reporting of programme results: • Contribute to the design and preparation of monitoring activities of assigned programme(s) in the Child Protection sector in Southeast Turkey. • Undertake regular program field visits and exchange information with partners/stakeholders to gather the necessary information to assess progress. Report on critical issues, bottlenecks, challenges, and delays, for UNICEF and partners to take timely action to achieve results. • Produce regular and timely reports on monitoring results. Organize data and information, prepare, and maintain records, documents, and control plans for the monitoring of programme implementation. • Prepare and maintain records, documents, and control plans for the monitoring of project/programme implementation. • Support partners in their progress report submissions and undertake report reviews. • Follow–up with and track the delivery of supplies provided to partners and report on their utilization.
➢ Support in knowledge management and capacity building: • Gather and share information to document good practices and new programme approaches. • Support the organization of technical trainings for UNICEF partners.
➢ Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
Required experience: 3 years of experience in /at the national and/or international level in planning and management of child protection, social development, or other relevant programmes.
• Demonstrated familiarity with and knowledge of the basics of Child Rights.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working with vulnerable groups and gender issues: women, children, and marginalized groups is an asset.
• Experience in Monitoring & Evaluation, and field experience, are assets.
• Experience working in UN or other international development organization, with emergency and humanitarian response is an asset.
• Languages Required: Good written and spoken English. Knowledge of Arabic will be considered as an asset. • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively. with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development.
• Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel.
• Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment.
Remarks: The UN Volunteer will be based in Gaziantep and responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials.
Summary of UNV entitlements for National UN Volunteers (Specialist):
- Currently Volunteer Living Allowance (per month): USD 1224, 41 disbursing in Turkish Lira
- Entry lump sum (one-time payment): USD 400
- Exit allowance: USD 102 per contract service month (when successful completion of the assignment)
